When the local division of the American Cancer Society embarked on the development of a new facility for their regional headquarters, an upbeat and positive image, not only for the employees but for those counseled on site by the staff, became a key theme of the project design. Creating a focal point was also considered critical for the building’s design. The light filled entry lobby, circular in shape and filled with windows, provides a bright and centered greeting point for the public. Symbolic of a lantern beacon, the lobby announces the building’s entry point and warmly greets its visitors. Along with the physical and psychological aspects of this uplifting space, the lobby element helps to create a new physical image for the American Cancer Society.

In addition, because the building is located on the Traditions at the Glen campus, the new design needed to be sensitive to its surroundings.   The materials used for the exterior help to compliment the existing Traditions at the Glen facility and provide the flexibility for future buildings to achieve a consistent campus theme while having the ability to be unique.
